Road to lifting the cup
Returning to Forum BIWI and to be hosted by SHC Rossemaison you automatically know its going to be a great weekend of hockey. The venue is made for hockey and this weekend was no different with 10 teams from three countries taking part we saw some of the most competitive U19's games we seen in a long time with scoreless games, to games with only a minor 1 or 2 goals difference.
Eventually two group winners emerged where both teams exited their groups unbeaten, both teams also tied a game each too.
Crash Eagles Kaarst facing off against IHC Atting in the first semi final saw the group winners take a win with a 2 goal lead.
Crefelder SC took a much closer game to SHC Rossemaison resulting in over time. With a penalty shootout looking likely SHC Rossemaison with just over a minute remaining in overtime got the game winning goal and secured their place in the final.
The final saw host team Rossemaison take a commanding lead and until 6:10 into the second period saw IHC Atting 5 - 0 down, but in less than two minutes saw that lead dwindle to 5 - 3 by 7:57.
At this point, it wasnt just hot outside, it was getting heated inside with a small scrum around the Rossemaison goal.
However, with just over 4 minutes left a 5 minute penalty given to IHC Atting leaving them short handed for the rest of the game and making the task of leveling, or even winning the game harder with a power play goal scored just moments after the restart.
Final score 8 - 3 with SHC Rossemaison lifting the cup.
