Road to lifting the cup
With the IISHF Men European Cup 2025 starting in a cool mid 20 degrees the weekend was certainly going to get heated both on and off the rink. On paper, you may have been able to say which teams were likely to make the final but this weekend was one full of shock results.
Kaarst, Dusseldorf and Crefelder not reaching their potential and failing to exit the group in a position to challenge for the title, however, IVA Rhein Main Patriots lead the way for Germany making their way undefeated to the final.
SHC Givisiez, however, were at one stage able to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in their group. However, with Crefelder crashing out, this took the options down to 1st - 3rd and eventually topping their group by one point.
The final saw Patriots take the lead 2 - 0 in the first period and looking strong too. Givisiez, unwilling to roll over trying to stay in the game the netminder from Givisiez gave all he had to the point of utter exhaustion and needing to be replaced at the point of 3 - 2.
The end result IVA Rhein Main Patriots took the victory 4 - 2 and are the new IISHF Men European Cup Winner
